How to Install EXILED Plugins on Your SCP: Secret Laboratory Server

Almost every SCP: Secret Laboratory plugin is built for EXILED, the community plugin framework. Install the framework first, then plugins are DLL files you drop into a folder.

Install EXILED

1. Stop the server.
2. Download the EXILED release that matches your server's game version.
3. In the panel open Files and upload the EXILED files so you end up with an EXILED folder in the server's user directory, alongside the SCP Secret Laboratory config folder.
4. Start the server and read the console. EXILED announces itself with a version number as it loads.

If nothing about EXILED appears in the console, the framework is not being loaded and no plugin will run. Open a ticket quoting the first thirty lines of the console.

Install a plugin

1. Stop the server.
2. Upload the plugin .dll into:

   .config/EXILED/Plugins/

3. If the plugin lists dependencies, upload those DLLs into:

   .config/EXILED/Plugins/dependencies/

4. Start the server. Each plugin is logged as it loads, with its version.

A dependency in the wrong folder is the most common installation mistake. Plugins go in Plugins, libraries they need go in dependencies.

Configure a plugin

EXILED writes plugin configuration into a config file under:

.config/EXILED/Configs/

The file appears after the first run. Start the server once, stop it, then edit. The format is YAML, so indentation matters and a tab where spaces are expected will break the file.

Check what loaded

Watch the panel console at startup. It lists each plugin with its version, and names anything that failed with the reason. A plugin built for a different EXILED version is the usual failure and shows as a type or method error.

After a game update

A game patch breaks EXILED and its plugins until new builds are published. If the server starts failing right after an update:

1. Move the contents of Plugins aside.
2. Confirm the server runs clean without plugins.
3. Update EXILED itself, then add plugins back as their updates arrive.

Removing a plugin

Stop the server, delete the DLL from Plugins, and delete its file from Configs if you want its settings gone too. Leave the dependencies alone unless nothing else uses them.
