How to Fix an SCP: 5K Server That Will Not List or Load a Map

Start with the panel Console. SCP: 5K logs its startup, the map it loads and anything it could not resolve.

1. A map name in the rotation is wrong

The rotation takes internal map names, not the names shown in game:

-maprotation=Area12,M_HuntSweden,M_WaveSurvival

A name the build does not recognise stops the server reaching a playable state, so it never registers with the browser. The console names the map it could not load. Fix the spelling on your server's Startup Settings page and restart.

Also check for spaces after the commas, which break the argument.

2. The ports do not match

The game port and query port must match the values allocated to your server, shown on the server overview. The browser reads the query port, so a wrong value gives a joinable server that never appears in a list.

3. The browser filters

• Clear the search box and untick the filters hiding empty and password protected servers.
• Give the server a few minutes after starting before deciding it is missing.

4. The gameplay config broke something

If the trouble started after you enabled bOverrideDefaults, set it back to false and restart. If the server then behaves, the problem is a value in your custom config rather than the server itself. Reintroduce your changes one at a time.

Remember that with the override on, stats and achievements are disabled by design. That is not a fault.

5. After a game update

SCP: 5K is an early access title and its server changes between builds. Map names and settings occasionally move. Restart the server so it pulls the new build, then read the console from the top for anything it now rejects.

6. Give the server a distinctive name

A default name makes the server very hard to find by search even when it is listed correctly.

Back up before you experiment

Stop the server and download the config folder under Pandemic/Saved/ from Files.
