How to Change Your Wreckfest 2 Server Settings

Wreckfest 2 uses a structured configuration file rather than the flat key and value list of the first game. It is split into a network section and a game section.

Open the file

1. Stop the server.
2. In the panel open Files and find:

   server_config.scnf

   It sits in the server's save directory. Use the file manager's search if it is not in the root.

Stop the server before editing. The file is written back on shutdown, so an edit made while it runs is lost.

The two sections

• The net server config section holds the server identity and networking: the name shown in the browser, the description, and the game port.
• The game server config section holds what the server plays: the event rotation, the level or track, and the rules for each event.

Keep the structure exactly as it is. Wreckfest 2 parses the file as a whole, and a broken bracket or a missing quote makes it fall back to defaults.

Do not change the port

The game port must match the port allocated to your server, shown on the server overview. Changing it here makes the server unreachable even though it starts cleanly.

Slots

Your plan's slot count is applied through the MAX_PLAYERS variable on your server's Startup Settings page, reachable from the server overview. Upgrade the plan in the billing area to run more players.

Changing settings without editing the file

The Wreckfest 2 server has its own console, which the panel Console section gives you directly. It accepts commands for reading and setting values, including the server description, and for adding AI drivers to fill a quiet server. Run help to list what your build supports, because this is a young title and the command set changes.

Apply and verify

1. Save the file.
2. Start the server.
3. Check the name in the browser. If it reverted to the default, the file was rejected as malformed or the server was running when you edited it.

Back up first

Download server_config.scnf from Files before a round of changes. It is small, and a known good copy turns a broken start into a quick restore.
