Night of the Dead Server Hosting

Traps take days to build and one bad night to lose. A dedicated server keeps the base standing while nobody is playing, which is the difference between a run and a save you actually come back to. Difficulty, PvP and the world save are all yours from the panel.

Night of the Dead questions we get most often. Anything else is in the knowledgebase.

Why host Night of the Dead on a dedicated server?
Because the base is the point. On a player hosted game the world only exists while the host is online, so everything you built waits on one person's schedule. A dedicated server keeps the world running and lets anyone drop in and keep working on it.
How many players can join?
The game is built around small co-op groups, and the plans state eight. Worth being straight about this one: Night of the Dead's server does not expose a setting for the player limit, so that number describes the game rather than a cap we enforce.
What is the difference between the two plans?
Memory, and nothing else. A bigger world with more built structures and more active traps needs more of it. Since the player count is not something the server lets us set, we do not pretend the plans differ on it.
How much RAM does it actually need?
We measured an idle server at roughly 2.1 GB, which is high for a survival game and is why the entry plan starts at 6 GB rather than the 2 GB or 4 GB you might expect. A server that is already near its ceiling before anyone joins is a server that falls over when they do.
Can I change difficulty, PvP and the save file?
Yes. Difficulty, PvP, the message of the day, the admin password and which save the server loads are all panel settings, and the config file is reachable over SFTP for anything else.
Does the server keep itself updated?
Yes, by default. It checks for a new build and validates its files on each start, so a restart brings it back current. You can turn that off if you would rather stay on a known build.
