How much RAM does an Ascended server need?
More than most listings suggest. We measured 10,152 MB with nobody connected on The Island, so 16 GB is our smallest plan and the one we would recommend for a private server. A public or heavily modded server wants 24 GB.
Is this the same as ARK: Survival Evolved?
No. Ascended is a rebuild in Unreal Engine 5 with its own servers and its own mods. Saves and mods do not carry across, and it needs considerably more memory. We host both, separately.
How do mods work?
Ascended uses CurseForge rather than the Steam Workshop. Put the mod ids into your server settings and the server downloads them on the next start, then prompts players joining to do the same.
Which maps can I run?
Any official Ascended map, set from your server page. The Island is the default. Changing map does not delete your existing save, but each map keeps its own.
Can I use RCON?
Yes. RCON is enabled and its port is published on your server automatically, with the admin password you set in the panel.
Does the server update itself?
Yes, automatic updating is on by default, so the server picks up new Ascended builds when it restarts. You can turn it off from your server settings if you would rather control when that happens.
