What is a Space Station 14 server?
It is a persistent station that runs its own rounds, on its own rules, with a name people can find in the server browser. Because the game is free to play, the thing that makes a server good is having a crew on it, which is why these plans are priced on players rather than storage.
How many players can I have?
Between 40 and 150 depending on the plan, and the number you buy is the number the server is actually configured with. We set the game's own connection limit to match the plan rather than leaving it at the default.
Do players need to buy the game?
No. Space Station 14 is free, which is unusual for the games on this site and worth knowing before you size a server. It also means the plan you pick is effectively a bet on how many people you can bring.
Can I require players to have an account?
Yes. The server can be set to allow anyone, require a Space Station 14 account, or refuse account checks entirely, and that switch is in the panel. On a free game this matters more than usual, because an open server is genuinely open to everybody.
How much RAM does the server need?
