Insurgency server is not in the browser or will not load a map

Work through these in order.

1. Prove the server works

Open the game console and run connect IP:Port with the details from your panel. If that connects, the server is healthy and the rest is about the browser.

2. sv_lan must be 0

Set sv_lan 0 in insurgency/cfg/server.cfg and restart. With it at 1, the server never advertises and rejects internet connections.

3. Browser filters

• Look on the internet or community tab, not LAN.
• Clear the filters for empty, full and password protected servers.
• Search on part of the hostname and add the server to Steam favourites once found.

4. The server hangs on map load

• Check the map and mode pair. Insurgency needs both, written as the map name, a space, then the mode.
• A mode a map does not support leaves the server loading forever.
• Check mapcycle.txt for a line with a typo. The console reports the map it tried to load.

5. The server crashes after a plugin change

1. Read the console for the last error before the crash.
2. Move the plugin you added out of insurgency/addons/sourcemod/plugins and restart.
3. Check the plugin was built for the SourceMod version you installed.

6. Players are dropped after an update

Steam updates the client automatically. Restart the server from the panel so it takes the same update, and watch the console for the update to finish before trying again.

Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with the console output from a fresh start if none of this fits.
