How to become an admin on your Arma 3 server

Arma 3 admin rights are claimed in game with a chat command, using the password from server.cfg.

1. Set the admin password

1. Stop the server and open server.cfg in the Files tab.
2. Set passwordAdmin = "YourAdminPassword";.
3. Keep it different from the join password in password.
4. Save and start the server.

2. Log in

1. Join the server.
2. Press the chat key and select Global chat.
3. Type #login YourAdminPassword and press Enter.
4. The server confirms you are logged in as admin.

3. Admin commands

• #missions opens the mission list so you can switch mission.
• #restart restarts the current mission, #reassign sends everyone back to slot selection.
• #kick <name> removes a player, #exec ban <name> bans one.
• #lock and #unlock stop and allow new connections.
• #logout gives up admin.

4. Admin without typing a password

Add your Steam64 ID to the admins list in server.cfg:

admins[] = {"76561198000000000"};

Listed players can take admin with #login and no password. This is the better option for a group, because you never have to share the password and you can remove one person without changing it for everyone.

5. Voted admin

If nobody is logged in, players can vote an admin with #vote admin <name>. A voted admin has fewer rights than a logged in admin. Setting voteThreshold above 1 in server.cfg disables voting entirely.

If #login reports a wrong password, check that the server restarted after your edit. The file is read at boot only.
