How much RAM does a Colony Survival server need?
It is a light game to host. 2GB runs a small colony for a group of friends without complaint. Memory grows with world size and colonist count rather than with players logged in, so a long running world that has been dug out and built up for months is the reason to move to 4GB or 8GB.
Can several people share one colony?
Yes. Colony Survival multiplayer lets players join the same colony and split the work, or run their own colonies in the same world. Either way the world is on the server, so it keeps existing between sessions.
What can I configure?
World name, server name and public listing are panel fields. The rest of the game's settings live in the server files, which you reach with the file manager or over SFTP with the server stopped.
Does it update itself?
Automatic updates are enabled by default, so the server pulls the current build on start. You can turn that off in the panel if you want to pin a version while a mod catches up.
How fast is setup?
Immediately after checkout. The install runs through SteamCMD and the server is joinable as soon as the files land.
